Still Rockin'

It has hit major all the major national news sources and journalists, Detroit has officially filed for chapter nine bankruptcy.  Some say they seen it coming, and others are appalled by the decision.  But what does this mean for Detroit and the city's future? Should we count them out and let the once manufacturing capital of the country fall even further to its ultimate decline? Or is the city getting back up and fighting to get back onto the map? If you know Detroit, you know they are already in the process of the latter.  The hardworking Detroit citizens and workers are already moving forward and climbing their way out of this hole.  The state just gave the city permission to begin building a $650 million new ice arena for the Red Wings and business and retail district in the heart of downtown Detroit.  This alone will create a great number of new jobs and inhabit much prime space that before was run down and abandoned.  Also within the last 24 hours a Canadian developer proposed a plan to Detroit which would eliminate the site of a  future prison area and in return the developer would create a 1 billion dollar plan to build a professional soccer stadium, 2 condo buildings, and over 750,000 square feet in retail business.  The developer is promising over 1,000 full time jobs in this small area, and will bring over 1,000,000 people per year for soccer alone.  People are realizing the struggles Detroit is going through, and they are taking advantage of the opportunities given.  Economics go up and down, depending on various factors.  Right now Detroit is down, but it is only a matter of time before the city is back up and booming stronger than ever.
